THE GOLD IN THE HISTORY

The gold is a noble metal, brillares like a sun in full summer it and never loses his brightness. word "gold" is often used to show all what which is precious, much being worth, highly positive: a heart made of gold; a character made of gold; gold words; gold business; swim in the gold; age of the gold; gold dreams; take for strained gold; do gold bridges; ecc ...it always has charmed men.

Since the dawnings of the civilization gold has been the most yearned metal. Anyway it was not suitable for making the tips of the lances and neither the kitchen utensils, it is a too tender metal. But the gold, maybe for his solar colour, maybe for his brightness, maybe for his incorruptibility and rareness, became the symbol of the divine one in all the big religions.

For millenniums it is the symbol of wealth, as noticing its constant presence in the ancient civilizations. It has been used for long as payment (it seems that the first coin in gold rerise to the A.C millennium II, and Elettro(*1) coins were certainly in circulation in a few Greek towns of the western coast of the Mar Egeo A.C century in the VII).

(* 1) the Elettro is a natural league made of gold with 20% made of silver. Its name comes from the colour, which looks like that of the Ambra.

It is also symbol of the beauty, is easy to work it and the man, with the gold, has created splendid jewels. The several ancients, realized by the Assiri, go up again to 2500 A.C. and they were found again in Mesopotamia today the area where is Irak. Will pass almost twenty centuries before Europe, with the Etruscan jeweller's and the Greek civilization, can at last exceed the examinations of the antiquity.

At present about the 80% of the gold extracted annually it is used in the of jeweller's shop and of jeweller's field.

In the exploration of big part of the terrestrial surface, the man has found out gold deposits everywhere also in places very far from us, from the Australia To The Alaska, from the California To The Sudafrica, up the Amazzonica forest. But the civilizations which have developed themselves on our continent have looked and found gold in many of the European areas.

I Greeks were procuring gold from the areas placed to the borders of their peninsula, from the Macedonia, the Tracia, but especially the mines of the Pangeo mountain (in fruit salad to the borders with the Tracia). The richest area in gold was the Lidia that was the classical country of the Elettro. But the greater coming amounts made of gold in possession of Greeks were represented by the war preys. The victory over Ciro gave 34.000 gold pounds.

The same one happened near Romans, the victory over Perseo, Macedonia king, yielded thirty million of Sesterzi in gold. Romans, with mighty hydraulic works, exploited to obtain gold the sands of the Spanish Ebro and Tago rivers, a few rivers of the Tracia the Cisalpine Gallia, and Italy principally in the zone of the Bessa To South- West Of Biella, in the Ovadese and along the Ticino.
